A.B. M. Daniels was born in Kilmagarry Ireland in 1923.He was the son of Michael Francis Daniels and Bridget M. Daniels of Summerland. Mike came to Summerland with his sister and Mother in 1927. He went to school until the tenth grade and then found employment in the Box Factory near the present day James Lake Industrial area. In 1941 he moved to Vancouver, worked on a farm and then the ship yards. As World War Two continued he joined the Canadian Navy.
At the age of 21 Mike was killed accidentally in St JohnNew Brunswick in a shipping accident on December 10 1943. At the time he was enlisted with the Royal Canadian Navasl Volunteer Reserve, H.M.C.S. Lunenburg Division. He was buried in the Summerland Anglican Cemetery.(Grave Lot 6 and 7 Block 4 Range 4) At his service the pallbearers were Jack Amm, Stanley McPherson, Kenneth Young, John Vanderburgh, m Dodwell and Hugh Mclarty, all of Summerland. The burial party for the last rites was provided by “C” Squadron of the BC Dragoons. Mike was survived by his parents Gar and Mrs M.E. Daniels, one brother and eight sisters. His father served in the Eighth Army in Italy.
