James Ronald ‘Ron’ Jewell
jewell, RonRon Jewell’s father was a shoe repair man. Ron attended KingEdwardHigh School in Vancouver before moving to Summerland. Ron was employed with the B.C. Fruit Shippers in West Summerland. Lieutenant Ron Jewell was married with two children when he enlisted with the British Columbia Dragoons, 9th Armd Regiment. He left for overseas on April 1941, returned to Camp BordenOntario. After six months at CampBorden he returned to Europe. Ron was killed after on May 29th 1944, doing excellent work as a reconnaissance officer with the B.C. Dragoons during the regiments first attacking engagement in Italy. He is buried at the Cassino War Cemetery Italy (Grave V.H.17)
