Martin Joyce
Martin Joyce was born on September 28th 1872 in Temple Midlothian Scotland.He was the son of John and Bridget Joyce. He had one sister still living in Scotland at the time of his enlistment, Mary Joyce. His trade was that of a teamster. He enlisted along with Buster Clouston, Martin on June 10 1916 and was recruited by Lance Corporal G.D. Marson. He initially enlisted with the 11th Canadian Mounted Rifles and later with the 47th Battalion. At the age of 45, Private Joyce Martin was killed on October 28th 1917 while serving with the Canadian Infantry (Western Ontario Regiment) 47th battalion. He is buried at Menin Gate (Ypres) Memorial (Grave Panel 10-26-28) (R# 227705)
