| |  | | William Gordon Kerr
 William Gordon Kerr was born on February 12th1889 in Saint JohnNew Brunswick. He was the son of William and Margaret Kerr of West Summerland. He lived at DL 463 Bk 16. He worked as a fruit grower and as an accountant. He was employed in the office of James Ritchie. He had a son Gordon and a daughter Margaret. His daughter Margaret married Eric Agur in 1914. He had military experience. For four years he served with the 3rd Regt CGA. He enlisted in St. JohnNew Brunswick on November 19th 1915. His brother Charles Douglas Kerr, two years younger, also enlisted in the war. In the May 7th issue of the Summerland Review it mentioned that Lieutenant W. Gordon Kerr who for some weeks has been with the brigade on Partridge Island at the mouth of St John Harbour, left the Atlantic seaport on April 28th 1915 to take a captain’s course in the field artillery at Kingston Ontario. Lieutenant Kerr was killed on October 25th 1916 at the age of 28, while serving with the Canadian Garrison Artillery, 131st Siege Bly. According to the Summerland Review, “for the brreaved parents and sisters Mrs. R.F. Theid and Mrs E.R. Agur, and other relatives much sympathy is felt, and many residents of the district who knew the yong solier feel much sorrow in the loss of a friend”.He is buried at the BertrancourtMilitaryCemetery, SommeFrance.
